Former Nottingham Forest player makes Poland international debut
Matty Cash, former Nottingham Forest player, at the age of 24 has made his international debut for Poland.
Cash has come a long way since his debut for Forest in 2016 with a win against Burton Albion.
After three years showing his talent off in the championship, he signed for Premier League team Aston Villa in September 2020.
He continued to perform well in the premier league triggering the Polish national team to become interested in Cash as he scored a place within the international squad.
Cash however only recently received his Polish citizenship, confirmed by the president of the Polish FA, Cezary Kulesza.
With Cash’s mother being born in Poland, this made the full back eligible to qualify for Polish citizenship, making his nationality now half English and half Polish.
After receiving his citizenship Matty Cash said: “I would like to thank the president, my family and other people who helped me.
Now it’s time for a new challenge. I will give my all for this country” he added.
A day to remember for Cash coming on as a substitute on Friday, November 12, helping secure Poland’s 4-1 win against Andorra.
The right back had an impressive first season for Aston Villa playing a total 1054 minutes and even grabbing himself a Premier League goal.
Cash continues to show off his determination on the pitch proving that he is worthy of playing at an international level as well.
