Princess Ugwo goes for gold at Trent’s Got Talent 2025
Trent’s Got Talent made its return for a third year on Tuesday, 25th November, proving once again that NTU students truly know how to put on a show.
Organised by Nottingham Trent Students Union, the event featured 5 individual acts alongside a performance from an NTU society. Held at The Level on City Campus, the competition introduced fresh faces to the stage and an enthusiastic audience. This year’s judging panel included NTSU President Libby Sinclair, Cheerleading President Anna Robinson, Rowing Captain Henry Bayley and Cocktail Society President Kai Blackhurst. The evening was hosted by SU Executive Officers Ben Parker and Joe Cormack in front of a full audience.
The first act of the evening was Thomas Marron with his rendition of “I think they call this love” by Ellie James Reay.

Next up was Zaid Rahmani with his beatboxing performance, this being a first for Trent’s Got Talent! But what did the judges think?
The next performer was Ruby Walker with her stunning cover of “A change is gonna come” by Sam Cooke. Judge Kai said “there was nothing bad to say and could therefore not buzz” while Judge Anna said Ruby “ate her performance and left no crumbs”. The audience highly approved of Ruby’s performance erupting into cheers and applause.
Next was another singer for this year’s Trent’s Got Talent with Vanessa Jenny taking to the stage.

Judge Kai buzzed Vanessa despite her impressive performance, explaining he wanted to see her showcase her Slovakian language skills, saying he was looking for a unique edge given the competition’s high standard. Next, Princess Ugwo took to the stage with an emotional contemporary dance that captivated both the audience and the judges.
After pressing her red buzzer too soon, Judge Anna revoked it, praising Princess’ performance as “beautiful” and saying it gave her goosebumps midway. Princess went on to win the entire competition, taking home the £300 prize, which she plans to use to fund her sociology studies in Barcelona next semester.
The last act of the night was Funky Fresh Collective, NTU’s Hip Hop Dance Society. Their performance mesmerized the audience, keeping everyone on the edge of their seats and highlighting the exceptional talent at Trent.

The dynamic lighting highlighted each dancer, adding depth and drama to their routine, while the crowd watched in rapt attention, breaking into cheers and applause at every impressive sequence. From perfectly timed flips to synchronized hip hop grooves, Funky Fresh Collective kept everyone on the edge of their seats, capturing not just attention but awe. Their energy and precision, combined with the electric atmosphere, showcased the creativity and exceptional talent
The judges deliberated and chose Princess Ugwo, Funky Fresh Collective & Vanessa Jenny
The crowd could then vote online for their winning act from the judges’ top three.
The audience chose Princess as their winner, who took home the £300 and was crowned Trent’s Got Talent 2025 champion! Princess performed her routine once more time much to the delight of the audience!
Well done to everyone that took part and showcased their amazing talent!
