Love sweeps NTU’s dating show Trent Me Out

The university’s annual match-making show returned last Sunday, just in time for Valentine’s Day.

Trent Me Out was held at The Level with six single men looking for a date.

The sold-out event based on the popular TV show Take Me Out was filled with drama, suspense and attraction.

How does Trent Me Out work?

There were eight girls on stage and one by one, a boy would come out hoping to find a match with one of the girls.

From their first impressions of the girls, the boy would reveal to the host who was their like at first light. This would be revealed at the end once the boy has found their match or left single.

Then the girls and audience would watch a video all about the boy and what he is looking for. If the girls were not interested in the boy, they would turn their light off as the saying goes ‘no likey, no lighty’.

But most of the lights would usually be turned off when it came to the video from their friends, sharing what the boy is actually like in real life. Their friends would reveal things such as what the boy is like in a relationship and what their red flags are.

The last element of the show is the boy’s secret talent which was showcased on stage. Three boys did card tricks and the other three sang their chosen song (which seemed to be the most popular talent for the girls and audience).

If more than one of the girls’ lights remained after these stages, the boy had the power to choose which girl he wanted to go on a date with by asking one question to be answered by both of the girls.

In the end, five out of the six boys found a match on Trent Me Out but will the couples last?

Overall, Trent Me Out was a fun experience to watch as you could get to know the contestants a bit who are fellow students and watch matches being made.

The audience was also part of the show, singing along to the boys’ songs and there was even some match-making between audience members.

It was my first time watching Trent Me Out this year and I definitely want to watch it again next year!
