Review: Alfie Templeman at Rock City
Alfie Templeman and his band returned to Nottingham for the Dot to Dot festival on Sunday 28th May. Alfie faced a bigger stage than his previous visit to Rescue Rooms in the iconic Rock City. With a day packed with music, Alfie was a favourite for many as the crowds gathered ahead of his set.
As the final whistle blew on the Nottingham Forest game, causing them to qualify for the premier league, the atmosphere within the city was already electric and Alfie skyrocketed this even further to the music lovers awaiting his return to Nottingham. ย
Having recently released his album โMellow moonโ Alfieโs new and old songs went down a hit with a packed-out venue. The band and Alfie had travelled from a set at Radio 1s Big Weekend earlier that day, but that didnโt make a difference to their infectious joy and strong stage presence.
As Alfie made his way through his 30-minute set, the crowd’s joy was infectious and radiated around the venue. Some of the crowd favourites were his classics of “circles”, “everybody’s gonna love somebody” and “3D feelings”. He also got the crowd dancing to the “candy floss” of his new album. Even Alfie mentioned how electric the crowd was and how Nottingham never fails to disappoint as a gig venue.
We canโt wait to see Alfie as he takes on more festivals in the coming months as well as his tour around Australia. Alfie and his band were by far my favourite performance of the day. ย
