Thomas Headon Resuce Rooms gig
Thomas Headon Rescue Rooms gig
On Friday 26 November Thomas Headon graced the stage at Rescue Rooms in Nottingham city centre and from the TikTok music to get everyone pumped for the live music to the cardboard cut-out of Harry Styles next to the drum kit, this was most definitely a Gen Z haven.
Just releasing a collab to beat all collabs with bedroom pop royalty, Chloe Moriondo and Alfie Templeman, in the form of Dizzy, Thomas Headon is one to watch in this dreamy music sphere.
The crowd were committed. Arriving with plenty of time to catch Dylan, the support act, the floor was packed out! From the balcony, where I stood, you could see an array of signs with messages for Thomas. When I was asked for my ID at the bar, I understood the age of the demographic.
The set went off with a boom! The catchy choruses and goofy dancing from Thomas set the tone and you could feel the positivity from in the room. Teenagers grooving without a care in the world.
The standout track of the night was UrbanAngel1999. It has a different groove compared to many of his tracks about ‘getting the girl.’ Being a 1999 kid, maybe I related more… (wanting the track to me about me.)
Although, at this point of the set, an ‘adoring’ fan threw their bra on stage! I don’t know who I felt sorrier for, Thomas, who barely acknowledged the incoming underwear attack or the girl who has one less bra in her collection.
Thomas covered two tracks during his set with polar vibes. Taylor Swift’s We Are Never Getting Back Together was the first choice and it might just have been the most perfect one. A complete mass karaoke moment.
The second, Blur’s Song 2. This highlighted a different side to Thomas, maybe giving an insight into his musical inspirations.
The hype from the crowd continued throughout the gig even though Thomas stated he was losing his voice, being on tour so long. Continuing regardless, the set featured tracks such as the recent release Strawberry Kisses and a crowd favourite Clean Me Up.
At the end of the set, the band left the stage, a split second to think there might be an encore, but the blinding house lights clicked on, and the loadout started.
3 out of 5 stars.
